a versatile Software developer and musician

Jon Chen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Music. As a developer, he specializes in developing iOS applications, but has also had extensive experience in web and back-end development. He is most interested in projects that affect the greater community, especially ones engaged in the arts. He has participated in numerous student hackathons during his undergraduate career, where he has worked on projects ranging from social impact development, to office timekeeping apps. His industry experience includes work at Gannett (USA Today), Frankly Media, and Hopper.

As a musician, Jonathan began studying piano at the age of five, cello at the age of ten, and guitar at the age of fifteen. He is a former principal cellist for the DC Concert Orchestra, and has appeared with in performances with Newcomers Club, Apartment Sessions, and Materia. Jonathan sat principal cellist in the Penn Symphony Orchestra, and also was the director of the Penn Chinese Music Society from 2013-2014. His teachers have included Mirjam Ingolfsson (Curtis), and Tom Kraines (Curtis, Juilliard). He is most interested in collaborations which involve combinations of genres, including musical theatre and jazz fusion.
